The session was open to all MBA students of the Twin Cities, who benefited greatly through a simple and more relevant explanation of the Budget by eminent speakers and experts.
Our students show keen interest and involve themselves with a lot of commitment in academic, cultural, community development and other activities like yoga and spirituality. Sessions are organized by top business executives for their benefit. They enthusiastically participate in various workshops and seminars, and make insightful presentations on research-based, contemporary issues. Our students also attend sessions on yoga and meditation by Swamijis of Ramakrishna Mutt (Hyderabad) and other spiritual teachers. We believe in making the student competitive by enhancing his conceptual and soft skills by developing his overall personality. To well equip the students the department arranges PDPs regularly for the third sem students. In the third Sem Placement activity starts and PDPs are scheduled just before the Placement activity starts. TIME Institute has conducted a one month Personality development classes in the months of Aug, Sep 2007 for the MBA III Sem.
Students of MBA I Sem have taken up a charity for the Child Guidance Centre at Peerzadiguda, Uppal, Hyderabad on November 14th 2007. The Child Guidance Centre comprised mentally retarded people and orphans between the age group 5 to 50 years. The students have mobilized funds up to Rs. 15000 and the money was used to provide the centre with benches, stationary, lunch and gifts besides entertaining them with some activities.
The College was the Co-sponsor for the Conference ‘Industry B-Schools Interaction Conference’ organized on 23rd Febraury 2008 in Hyderabad by XIME Institute, Banglore. The Director Prof. Pannalal presented a paper on ‘Industry B- School Interaction’.
The Mega Management and Cultural Meet, ‘Splash’ is being organised in the department since the inception of the department in 1987. This is a mega event totally managed by students under the guidance of faculty. No participation fee is charged. This meet helps the students to improve their organizing and marketing skills as they get sponsorships from the Industry. Students design screening tests for various formal and informal events by updating as per the existing trends.
The department conducts Industrial visits and tours regularly to make the students understand the operation and functioning of manufacturing firms besides facilitating interaction with the top personnel of the company.The students of MBA I sem were taken to an industrial tour to Ooty and Coimbatore.
The Industrial Tour was scheduled from 18th to 22nd November 2007.The companies visited are Doddapeta Tea factory and Hindustan photo films in Ooty and Shivanand Textile Mills in Coimbatore.
In our efforts to maintain a constructive interface with the industry, the faculty and students are regularly sponsored by the Management to attend prestigious conferences and seminars. To name a few, the students had participated in the ‘CII Partnership Summit’ and ‘HR Conclave’ organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). The students were in the Organising Committee of the 32nd National Management Convention on ‘Best of the Best: Spirit of the Challenger’, conducted jointly by the All India Management Association (AIMA) and Hyderabad Management Association (HMA).
Interaction between Seniors and Juniors is facilitated through Seniors taking the initiative in conducting some academic exercises like quiz programmes, case studies etc. Quiz Programmes: On 10th October 2007, Business Quiz programme was orgnaised by Mr. Vimal Kant of MBA 3rd Sem for the MBA I Sem students. The winners are Mr. Koteswara Rao and Mr. Vijaya Bhaskar. The runners up are Mr. Bharat Reddy and Ms. G. Suhasini.
Mergers and Acquisitions: This year as an innovation the students of MBA 2nd sem are given a team exercise on Mergers and Acquisitions on Feb 20th 2008. This exercise was conducted by Mr.Vimal Kant of MBA 4th Sem. Four highest bidding teams are selected and the teams are supposed to justify their bidding strategy. The winning team is H.Naresh, D. Radha Krishna, Sunitha Gauri and G. Suhasini. The runner-up team is M.Rishitha Raj and D. Ramaraju.
Competitions are held among the students to improve their general business awareness and presentation skills. As a part of such activity, ‘business house’ and ‘industrial sector’ presentations are regularly organized for the MBA students in the first and second semester respectively. Students are divided in groups of six and the best group which gave the presentation with utmost team spirit, conceptual clarity and query handling was chosen as the winning team. A competition on ‘Business House Presentations’ was organised for the MBA I sem students on 19th September 2007. The students were divided into 10 teams, each team consisting of 6 members. Two teams from PGDMIB have also presented. The Business houses presented were Tata, Birla, Bajaj, Wipro, Reliance, Mahindra, Jumbo, Larsen & Toubro, Godrej and L.N. constructions. The Reliance Team Bharat Reddy, Sunil etc were the winners. The Godrej Team Ms. M. Sri Ramya, Amit etc were runners-up.
